Boyolali, SMA Pradita Dirgantara – Germany has become an increasingly important player in international education in recent years. Recently, Germany is becoming a magnet for international students from all over the world. Today, April 21, 2021, 13.00 until 14.30 PM SMA Pradita Dirgantara held a webinar to discuss with Goethe Institut using Zoom platform. The theme of the webinar was “How to Apply to Study in Germany with Studienbrücke Programme?”.
This webinar presents two speakers from Goethe Institut, Gregorius Hadibudiharjo and Dwi Novaldi. Chief of Domestic and International Cooperation of Pradita Dirgantara High School, Ms. Lena Citra Manggalasari was the moderator.
The webinar was attended by more than 300 participants from students and parents who came from all over Indonesia. The event took place lively and warm, several questions were raised by the participants. Gregorius Hadibudihadjo in his speech conveyed that studying in Germany was particularly valued for students of Pradita Dirgantara High School.
First, Gregorius said that most international students in Germany were safe and stable. It indicates that the German government was looking out for all students, not just citizens. Germany’s crime rate also decreased to the lowest level every year.
Secondly, German education standards are relatively high. It is because German school system is so well structured and rigorous. Thus, it has given birth to world-famous figures.
Thirdly, almost 10% of German university students come from foreign countries, most coming from China and India. Germany also has become more tolerant and open-minded, certainly more competitive in the global world.
Dwi Novaldi, one of the webinar speakers who also Assistant Programme Studienbrücke Goethe Institut, in his presentation stated that to study in Germany the students need to prove that they can speak German well. This proof needs to be delivered by submitting an official language certificate unless you are a native speaker or have graduated from a German-speaking program. To let applicants know how well they should speak German, many German universities use the terms defined by the council of Europe in the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR). On this scale, there are 6 levels (A, A2, B2, C, C2).
Also, Germany’s governments of recent years have understood the economic and social benefits of the immigrants. Germany offered the students to study in the country, and ideally to stay and work after graduation. That is why there are no tuition fees for foreigners as well (post-study work opportunities, up to 18 months).
At the end of the webinar, Novaldi explained that Germany was a great place to live. The majority of students confirmed that they will remain in Germany after their study to pursue career development, study further or even start a business.
