Dissemination of Critical Essay: SMA Pradita Dirgantara Efforts to Sharpen Student Competencies

SMA PRADITA DIRGANTARA (Boyolali) – Students of class X, XII and XII SMA Pradita Dirgantara conduct online dissemination of Critical Essay manuscripts in front of examiners consisting of teachers and Experts on Friday-Saturday, 12-13 September 2020.

This dissemination activity is a series of critical essay activities starting with the division of groups and supervisors, presentation of global competency schemes, introduction of research principles, determining topics and planning for critucal essay writing as well as online observation and mentoring from supervisors.

The time line for Critical essay implementation activities which consist of collecting manuscripts, online dissemination, adjusting Critical essay texts for mini PBS (Project Based Services) and strengthening concepts, implementing mini PBS and finally reporting PBS results, which lasted for approximately one month. Critical essay activities by looking directly at the problems and phenomena in the field are designed to hone the competence of Pradita Dirgantara High School Students. “This critical essay activity aims to equip students in the aspects of Global Mindset and leadership and to respect nature culture. In this activity students learn to take pictures, understand and identify environmental conditions with all their problems. Students can sort problems in different domains and choose the category of problems that will be their study “, said Dr. Yulianto Hadi, M.M Principal of SMA Pradita Dirgantara.

The implementation of Critical essay dissemination activities is intended to test the quality, originality and capacity of the written work of each group appointed to work on the Critical Essay-Project Based Services project. In addition, this dissemination activity is also to see the extent to which the critical essays produced are able to provide a clear picture of the Project based Services (PBS) that will be carried out afterwards. In this dissemination students will describe the real conditions of the environment according to the taxonomy of elements such as the topic they are carrying out. Students are expected to be able to describe, analyze, predict and from the perspective of being able to make problem solving of existing problems. By including theoretical studies and comparing with real conditions, students make hypotheses which will be proven later in testing.

Various interesting themes were written and delivered by students in English, including the theme of herbal formulas for chicken livestock, mental health of adolescents, digital literacy, sexual violence etc. If at this stage the student group passes the testing process, it will be continued in the form of mini Project Based Services, and become a proposal by including an activity plan. Collaborating with various parties such as the municipal government, community, community etc., it is hoped that this critical essay activity can be part of solving existing problems.
