Pradita Dirgantara High School Students Wins Papercraft Competition at the 2020 Space Science Festival

PRADITA DIRGANTARA SMA (Boyolali) – Pradita Dirgantara High School students won achievements at the 2020 Space Science Festival which was announced on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

The 2020 Space Science Festival with the theme _ “Satellite for Better Life” _ is organized by the National Aeronautics and Space Science Center (Lapan) in commemoration of World Space Week. In the festival, there are several competitions with various categories, and for high school level competitions and the equivalent are the Papercraft / 3D Paper Model making competitions. The activities were carried out virtually due to the pandemic period and were open to high school and equivalent throughout Indonesia.

Dimas Roiz Wicaksana, student of SMA Pradita Dirgantara, won 3rd place in the Papercraft / 3D Paper Model Competition with a score of 85.95. The assessment criteria carried out in this competition include: Originality and Creativity with a weight of 20%, Complexity with a weight of 25%, Aesthetics with a weight of 25%, the number of likes (Youtube and Instagram) with a weight of 10%, and presentation / communication techniques via video with a weight of 25%.

“We received information that this competition was quite short on time, but with the announcement of the postponed deadline, we could finally include the work of Pradita Dirgantara High School Students. The participation mechanism in the competition starts by registering on 17 August to 21 September 2020. Selection is carried out on 22 September – 2 October 2020 and the winners are announced on 7 October 2020. Participants’ work is presented by making videos uploaded to YouTube and the media social. Even though there are obstacles in not being able to meet in person, we provide online guidance, for example related to design, materials, etc. ”, Terang Novita Triwidianingsih, S.Pd as the supervisor for participation in this competition.

In explaining his idea, Roiz revealed that he wanted to make a papercraft which if it could be a reference model if LAPAN were to build a satellite. For his work, Roiz uses plain white A4 paper and hot glue as the adhesive. With the success of Dimas Roiz as the winner, it is hoped that it will motivate other students at SMA Pradita Dirgantara to take the same opportunity in future competitions. “Alhamdulillah, I was able to get a champion too, even though the preparation for the competition was only 1 week, I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to take part in this competition because it can add to my experience.” Said Roiz.
