Germany has emerged as a key player in international education in recent years, attracting students from across the globe. Today, on April 21, 2021, from 13:00 to 14:30 WIB, Pradita Dirgantara High School hosted a webinar in collaboration with the Goethe Institut via the Zoom platform. The webinar was focused on "How to Apply for Studies in Germany with the Studienbrücke Program?"
The event featured two speakers from the Goethe Institut, Gregorius Hadibudiharjo and Dwi Novaldi. Lena Citra Manggalasari, Head of International Cooperation at Pradita Dirgantara High School, expertly moderated the discussion.
With over 300 participants, including students and parents from across Indonesia, the webinar was a dynamic and engaging affair, with participants posing several insightful questions. Gregorius Hadibudihadjo underscored the benefits of pursuing education in Germany, particularly for students at Pradita Dirgantara High School.
Firstly, Gregorius noted that the majority of international students in Germany feel safe and secure. This speaks to the German government's commitment to all students, not just its citizens. The crime rate in Germany also decreases to its lowest level each year. Secondly, the educational standards in Germany are relatively high due to the structured and rigorous German school system. This has produced globally renowned figures. Thirdly, almost 10% of students in Germany come from abroad, with the majority hailing from China and India. Germany is also becoming increasingly tolerant, open-minded, and globally competitive.
Dwi Novaldi, an Assistant in the Studienbrücke Program at the Goethe Institut and one of the webinar speakers, conveyed that for studying in Germany, students need to demonstrate proficiency in the German language. This evidence must be presented by providing an official language certificate unless you are a native speaker or have graduated from a German language program. To inform applicants how well they should speak German, many German universities use the terms specified by the European Council in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This scale comprises 6 levels (A, A2, B2, C, C2).
